Declaraciones de productos ambientales

What is an EPD?

A Declaration of Environmental Products (EPD) is an integral document, verified and harmonized internationally, that informs the ways in which a product affects the environment throughout its life cycle. Similarly, but much more solid than the concept of a "nutrition label", an EPD tells the story of a product's complete sustainability in a single written report.

Commonly, an EPD will include information about a product's impact on global warming, the ozone hole, water pollution, the creation of ozone and greenhouse gas emissions. An EPD can also include other impacts that are of particular interest to the person who reveals the information, such as the risk of human toxicity and corporate social responsibility.

EPDs do not act as product classifications or eco-labels; they help architects, designers, technicians who verify specifications and other buyers to better understand the sustainable qualities and the environmental repercussions of a product. As such, EPDs equip manufacturers with a valuable tool for differentiation and empower customers to make more informed purchasing decisions.
