Knauf Insulation North America Introduces EcoSeal™ System at Greenbuild Expo 2010

EcoSeal System represents the industry’s most cost-effective means of achieving energy efficient building envelopes

(CHICAGO)—Knauf Insulation North America launched its newest sustainable insulation solution, called the Knauf Insulation EcoSeal System, at Greenbuild Expo in Chicago Nov. 17-19.

The EcoSeal system is a combination of EcoSeal, Water-Based Elastomeric Sealant, and EcoBatt® Insulation or Jet Stream® Ultra Premium Blowing Insulation, all from Knauf Insulation. This combination results in less energy use and increased protection of indoor air quality.

Knauf Insulation’s new EcoSeal forms an air barrier in the seams of a home. EcoSeal dries to a flexible tough film and has great bond strength sealing penetrations and joints in the building envelope, including exterior walls, attics and floors. This makes the home more energy efficient, which ultimately lowers energy bills while protecting the environment. The complete  system provides the most cost-effective, highest performance cavity-fill insulation on the market today, with alternative methods offering less R-value than the sealed performance of the EcoSeal System.

EcoBatt is Knauf Insulation’s most sustainable insulation. It’s bio-based, combining renewable and abundant resources such as sand and a minimum of 40 percent post-consumer recycled glass with a proprietary technology that removes petro-chemicals used in most other fiber glass insulations.

“The EcoSeal System is an unbeatable combination of performance, sustainability and simplicity at a fraction of the cost of traditional foamed-in-place products,” said Joe Hudock, residential market manager. “New building codes and more demand for sustainable buildings has made it even more important to ensure a building has a tight seal and superior insulation. An home EcoSealed not only meets client standards for comfort, efficiency and sustainability, but also supports green building initiatives and contributes to LEED certifications.”

“EcoSeal is easy to use and cleans up with water, unlike alternative methods, so all you have to do is spray and walk away,” Hudock added. “EcoBatt Insulation installs quickly and easily while being less dusty and friendlier to the touch. It delivers greater sustainability and thermal performance that’s assured for life. That’s important in today’s environment that places a high priority on building green.”
