Knauf to provide a “sneak preview” of Knauf SealR Air Sealant at IBS in Las Vegas

Attendees to see Knauf Insulation’s newest high-performance building product in Show Village at the International Builders’ Show

(SHELBYVILLE, Ind., January 14, 2010) — Today Knauf Insulation is pleased to announce they will hold a “sneak peek” of their newest high-performing, cost-conscious building product—Knauf SealR Air Sealant in the Professional Builder Show Village at the 2010 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas from January 19 to January 22.

“We are excited to share this preview of Knauf SealR Air Sealant with builders, remodelers, contractors and architects,” says senior vice president of sales and business development Jeff Brisley.  “The upcoming addition of SealR Air Sealant to the Knauf Insulation family of products will give builders the opportunity to reap benefits from high-performing, cost-effective insulation and air sealing systems.”

Builders will be impressed with how Knauf Insulation’s SealR Air Sealant saves time and money on projects.  “One of the most important things for builders to know is that Knauf SealR Air Sealant has the potential to help decrease production time for builders on projects,” continues Brisley.  “Many air sealants require that other trades and contractors vacate the premises during and after installation for health and safety reasons. Some sealants require an extended absence from the premises before work can resume. SealR doesn’t.” With Knauf’s SealR Air Sealant there is no such delay during or after installation —which saves builders time, and money.

The benefits for builders don’t end there.  In addition to being trade and interior friendly, Knauf SealR Air Sealant compliments the assured thermal performance of Knauf Insulation products, including R-15 for standard 2x4 construction and R-21 for standard 2x6 framing.  “This product will enable Knauf Insulation to offer builders high-performing systems very cost-effectively,” says director of sustainability and product affairs Scott Miller.  “Research shows that sustainable construction is growing at a rate five times that of regular construction.  Consumers want homes that are more energy efficient and cost effective.  So pairing Knauf SealR Air Sealant with EcoBatt Insulation with ECOSE Technology is a great opportunity for builders to meet the needs of consumers.”   ECOSE Technology is a revolutionary bio-based binder that contains no phenol, formaldehyde, acrylics or artificial colors and is 70 percent less energy intensive than our traditional binders. It reduces both the expected global warming potential and total embodied energy of EcoBatt Glasswool insulation by approximately 4 percent.

“When you pair Knauf’s SealR Air Sealant with Knauf glasswool insulation, it’s a win-win for the builders and homebuyers because they are getting cost competitiveness, high-performance and sustainability—which translates to a more affordable, sustainable home with better indoor air quality and lower utility bills.”
